Drugs & Alcohol Awareness Morning
On Monday staff from The Kings Arms visited TPS to deliver a drugs and alcohol awareness morning Year 11 students.
The students moved around in groups in a carousel of talks and workshops, learning about the effects of drug and alcohol misuse.
In Science the students saw first-hand the physical effects of alcohol abuse with experiments involving animal liver, water fleas and eggs. They also had the opportunity to wear ‘booze goggles’ to simulate the experience of being drunk, and then attempted to walk round an obstacle course, catch a ball, and high-five each other.
The students also learnt about the effects of smoking/drug misuse and drinking excessive alcohol from a social, emotional and intellectual perspective.
Mrs Marshall, head of PSCHE, said, “It was an informative session, and the students all very much enjoyed their morning. I would like to thank the Kings Arms staff for their time.”
