Success for Ben and the Portsmouth Pythons Lacrosse Team

Year 9 student Ben Lucas plays for the U14 Portsmouth Pythons lacrosse team, who picked up a clean sweep by winning every age group at the 2017 SEMLA Junior Flags at Surrey Sports Park on Sunday 19 March.

Due to a sprained ankle, Ben was goalkeeper (No. 54) instead of his usual position as lead goal scorer in attack.  Guildford, Spencer and Pythons contested the Under 14s competition with Pythons drawing one game, but winning the rest to come out on top and take the title.

Ben has been playing lacrosse for over 3 years and often plays up for the U17 team, too.  He was inspired by a visiting lacrosse coach at an activities day in his primary school, and trains every Saturday at Kingscourt School.

SEMLA England talent scouts often come to watch the games on the lookout for new players and Ben’s ambition is to play for England one day.
