Volunteer Police Cadet Attestation Ceremony

Year 9 and Year 10 students attended the attestation ceremony for Volunteer Police Cadets from four new units including the Petersfield Unit at The Petersfield School. The evening was hosted at the home of the Southsea Unit, Portsmouth High School

The ceremony saw over 100 cadets from the new units swear their oath as cadets and celebrate the end of their ten week induction with friends, family and special guests including the Deputy Chief Constable and Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.

One of the new Cadets, Sarah Arnold, said, “First of all we marched into the hall (we had been practising this for weeks) and then heard speeches from the Lord Mayor and the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.  Then we gave our Cadet oath - all in unison- and were called up unit by unit to be presented with a certificate on stage by the Higher Sheriff.   I felt really proud and enjoyed wearing my uniform on stage in front of my friends and family - it was magical!”
