Best ever GCSE results at TPS!
Students, parents and staff at The Petersfield School are again celebrating amazing record GCSE results this year. The students achieved the highest English and Maths pass rate in the history of the school with 80% of students gaining a pass in both subjects, despite the increased academic challenge of this year’s new style GCSEs and a drop in the national pass rates. This was a further 6% increase on last year's record results and will likely place TPS as one of the top 10 state schools in Hampshire. Students were also awarded over 40 of the brand new GCSE top grade 9s (equivalent to an A**) in English and Maths. Other subject areas of outstanding success with over 90% ‘good’ GCSE pass rates include Triple Science, Spanish, Geography, History, RE, Art, Drama, Music, Media and PE. Additionally, measures of student progress also significantly increased.
Emma Walker, from South Harting, was the highest performing girl with grade 9 in both English and Maths, six A* grades and three A grades. She said "I am blown away by these results and am so happy! The support from TPS has been fantastic!". Samuel Brown, from Denmead, was the highest performing boy also with grade 9 in both English and Maths, six A* grades and two A grades. He said “I am extremely happy with my results. Have had great support from all the teachers and would really like to thank them all. I am going to miss the incredibly supportive atmosphere here and would like to wish all my friends the best of luck for their futures".
Principal Mark Marande said, "I am incredibly proud of all of the students who have achieved these record results through countless hours of hard work and dedication. Our staff, governors and parents have supported the students superbly as we've built a culture of the highest achievement here at TPS and these results are a testament to this. Since joining the Bohunt Education Trust last year, we’ve worked closely with our partner schools and we look forward to even greater success in the future. I am overjoyed that more students than ever will be leaving TPS with such fantastic GCSE results."
We are also celebrating some fabulous results for Year 9 and 10 students in GCSE Statistics, Performing Arts and Languages.
