The European Day of Languages
On Tuesday 26 September, students and staff at TPS joined together to celebrate The European Day of Languages. This provided us with a wonderful opportunity to think about the importance of language-learning and when faced with the challenge of designing a poster “Why learn a language?”, Year 7 students came up with many important reasons: to develop your confidence, to increase your brainpower, to transform your travel experience, to improve your employability, to allow you to live or work overseas, to make you more open-minded and most importantly, because it is fun!
Throughout the day there were many activities – a design a cupcake competition, a treasure hunt around the school to find various celebrities who speak more than one language, a tutor quiz, a selfie station and a European-themed lunch.
Mr Marande presented prizes to the winners of the various competitions: Why learn a language – poster competition (Sam Burchett, Hannah Jones, Ephie Sorensen); Decorate a cupcake competition (Emma Clews); Treasure Hunt (Elliot Walters)
