Music Success for Anna
Year 10 student Anna Lezdkan, a gifted musician, has been offered a highly coveted place at The Royal Academy of Music Junior Department in London.
From September the 14 year-old will attend every Saturday for a day of individual tuition, choir, musicianship classes, chamber music and orchestra, and this will continue until she turns 18.
Anna said, “I applied last year, but didn’t get in. My new music teacher encouraged me to try again, but I didn’t think I stood a chance as it is so competitive - there are only 200 in the Department including all instruments, so I had worked out that there would only be about 5 places for violinists! It hasn’t really sunk in yet - when I heard, I burst into tears!”
Anna plans to study Science and Music A-Levels at Godalming College, and then hopes to progress to the Senior Department at The Royal Academy of Music.
