STEM Challenge Day
This week, 14 students from Years 7 and 8 attended a STEM Challenge Day at Churcher’s College.
The students worked on a range of different activities including making a robotic hand control device, building a Geodesic Dome, designing a future product and a Vex robotics challenge. The day was designed to broaden the students’ understanding of Engineering.
For the VEX challenge, students had to design, manufacture and drive a vex robot and complete the task of moving scoring tokens into different scoring zones of the robot arena.
Reuben Stickland, Sebastian Stickley, Lucy Sampson, Maja Ostersen and Tor Richardson had spent a few weeks preparing for the challenge in Design and Technology, and their excellent teamwork when designing and making the robot plus fantastic driving from Tor Richardson was rewarded with first place in the challenge!
