Cooking with the Royal Navy

This afternoon the Year 10 Food Prep and Nutrition students spent time cooking with the Royal Navy.

Each group was given staple cupboard ingredients and one mystery ingredient such as lardons, puff pastry or chorizo. They were given one hour to create a main course dish and a dessert where they had to work as a team to first plan the meal, then cook it and present it for judging.

As part of the sessions, the students talked to serving Navy personnel about career opportunities in the Royal Navy, including their apprenticeship scheme.  Although there was no clear winner, the students thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and especially eating their creations at the end!
