Sports Ambassadors at Leadership Training course

Some of our Year 10 Sports Ambassadors attended an all-inclusive Leadership Training course at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth yesterday.  They learned a variety of activities which can be adapted to suit every child of any age whilst working with a variety of Primary, Secondary and Special schools from across the county.

They had the opportunity to hear from Toby Garbett, Olympian and 2 x World Champion rower turned triathlete, and Boo, the young athlete mentor from the Mary Rose Academy, who shared their stories to inspire and encourage any student of any ability to be involved in sport.

Speaking of his desire to keep working hard at training every day, Toby Garbett reflected that "Each day you will either be a better or worse version of yourself. You will not simply stay the same", and it was his dedication and willingness to be better each day that drove him to be at the top of his sport.

David Alvarez said, “The Sports Ambassadors have learned a lot today and are certainly going away a better version of themselves. They will be looking at sharing this knowledge with the rest of the Year 10 Sports Ambassadors soon in preparation for the summer festivals and sports days.”
