Hugo Scouted for Scotland

Year 10 student Hugo Carey turns 15 tomorrow but he has already had the best early birthday present – being scouted for the U16 Scotland International team!

Hugo started playing rugby when he was 4 and trains 4-5 times a week. As well as playing for TPS and Petersfield RFC, Hugo has also been playing for London Irish Academy for the past two seasons and was one of only 10 players who were accepted again this season without re-trials!

He was scouted for the Scotland Exiles at the end of last season and has been training in Guildford.  In future Hugo will also be training and playing at Murrayfield for international matches with the U18s and U21s.

Hugo said, “It has been a dream come true! I am very grateful for the support from my family and my teams.  I really want to play professional rugby, but if that doesn’t work out, I want to be an oncologist.”
