A Dance Career On The Cards For India
Over the past few months, Year 9 student India Taylor has enjoyed fantastic success in various Dance competitions.
Last August she auditioned successfully for a place with Stagebox London Elite alongside young other West End performers; in October she qualified for the All England Festival in Modern Solo ballet/tap/modern jazz, and at the ISTD UK Grand Finals U16 Gold Star and above India was awarded First place in Disco Freestyle for the 4th year running.
She was a senior dancer in the pantomime “Cinderella” at the Kings Theatre Southsea in January, and was an extra in the film “The Personal History of David Copperfield” which is on general release this year.
Recently she gained First place in Disco Freestyle solo in the U16 ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) Freestyle regional round in Bournemouth.
India started dancing at 3 with the Claire Louise School of Dance in Horndean. She also attends Timestep Academy several times a week for ballet, tap and modern jazz classes.
She said, “My favourite dance form is Modern Jazz, and I want to make Dance my career, so I hope to go on to Dance College and ultimately get into film and musical theatre.”
