Holly's Kickboxing Success
Holly Robins-Mitchell has been kickboxing for 3 years – firstly with a club in Waterlooville and for the past year at Lab99 in Petersfield, a gym offering kickboxing, combat sports and personal training run by former student Saffron Exton.
Year 8 Holly has excelled in her kickboxing and boxing classes and has achieved great results at local competitions, so Saffron decided to enter her into the WAKO British Championships, the most prestigious kickboxing competition in the UK.
Holly had a tough weekend against girls who were much more experienced, heavier and a good few years older than her, but she performed very well, coming away with Bronze.
By making it to the podium, Holly has also won the chance to train with the WAKO British team with a view to trying to get a place on Team GB to represent Great Britain in the Europeans later in the year!
Holly said, “I am very excited about training every month with the GB team up in London on Sundays! Kickboxing is a sport in the Olympics, and I really want to be part of that, and make it my career.”
