About us

Welcome To The Petersfield School

The Petersfield School is an Outstanding Academy with over 1200 pupils on roll. We also have a specialism in the Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Music). Governors have recently invested over £1.5m in improving our sports facilities so that thy are now amongst the highest quality and regularly accessed by students, the local community and even professional football.

In 2010, Ofsted graded TPS as "Outstanding”. Only 13% of all schools are Outstanding and we are proud to have joined such a prestigious club.

GCSE results improve year on year. This summer, our students smashed all previous records with 88% gaining at least 5 x A*-C grades. Over two-thirds of our students also achieved the new "gold standard” of 5 x A*-C with English/Maths, whilst 31% of our students gained at least 5 A*/A grades each.

We are the town’s own state school and admit students from a wide geographical area, including south of the town and nearby areas of West Sussex. Applications are equally welcome from catchment and non-catchment schools.

Having become an Outstanding school, our aim now is to provide a world class education for all our students, as befits an International Schools Award winner (2010), so that they are ready to meet the challenges of life in the 21st century. We are proud of our achievements and have plenty of awards which reflect them such as Artsmark Gold, Healthy Schools and Investors in People.

We are most proud of the ethos which pervades the school. It is a very happy place and our delightful students like coming here – Ofsted described their behaviour as Outstanding.

The vast majority of our students go on to study courses at Alton College, South Downs College and Havant College, and we regularly hear of ex-students gaining places at good universities including Oxford and Cambridge.

There is plenty to do in and out of the classroom and we aim to offer students a wide range of extra curricular opportunities.

I know you will love what you see and I am always happy to meet prospective parents if you would like to come and have a look round.

Principal
