Gymnast Emma Qualifies for the British Finals

TPS Year 7 student Emma Larner and her team have qualified for the British Team Gym Finals to be held in Gloucester on 5 May. Team Gym involves synchronised gymnastic floor work, tumbles, vaults and trampettes.

Emma, who celebrated her 12th birthday this week, started her gymnastic career at the age of 8 when she attended the Concorde Gymnastics Club held at Horndean Technology College. She joined the Portsmouth School of Gymnastics a year and a half ago in the primary group where she was assessed and placed in the A team. She has now moved up to the Juniors team which includes girls aged 11 to 14, and they will be competing against teams aged up to 16 at the Finals.

Emma said, "I am really looking forward to it, because if we win we will go through to the European Championships in October, which would be a fantastic experience!”
