A group of Malaysian students who are studying for a BEd Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at Portsmouth University are spending 5 one-day placements throughout this year at The Petersfield School. Their focus is on language teaching and use of ICT, and they have been spending time in various departments and trailing students and Teaching Assistants to gain a full picture of education in the UK.
The training programme concludes with a week-long placement in June when they will complete a research project.
Emma West, Assistant Principal at TPS, said, "It has been a real privilege to work with the trainees, and talk about teaching and learning on a global scale. We continue to aim to be a ‘world class’ Academy and these International projects are an important part of this. Our students have been able to work alongside our visitors during the placement, further developing their cultural understanding.”
