Mock Interview Day

Even the cold weather couldn’t cool the enthusiasm of Year 11 students from The Petersfield School as they prepared for their Mock Interview Day.

Each student was given the opportunity to be interviewed by individuals from the local business community, parents, TPS Governors and Further Education College representatives. The aim of the day was to show students how they presented at an interview in preparation for the world of work, and they could opt to wear smart interview clothes or their uniform. Following the interview, students were given feedback on areas such as the presentation of their CV, their appearance, body language and overall impression.

At the end of the day 12 students were chosen as overall ‘top candidates’ and presented with an award in a celebration assembly. Every student who took part agreed that it was a very valuable experience, allowing them to practise their interview skills and gain insight into what a good CV should look like before leaving school and attempting to find employment.

Laura Asbridge, Vocational Courses & Careers Co-ordinator, said, "This gives students the chance to really think about themselves and what they have to offer. We are very grateful to everyone who has given up their time to help today.”
