Saffron Makes a Kicking Start

Year 8 TPS student, Saffron Exton, had only been kick-boxing for a year when she joined the Great Britain Martial Arts Academy in Guildford 3 weeks ago. The GBMAA has teachers who have been World Champions 11 times over, and standards are very high.

Saffron entered a competition last week and promptly beat everyone in her age group, and despite being the smallest there, she came third, beating the U14 World Champion and the British Champion. As a result the 12 year-old has been asked to join the International Kick-Boxing team with an opportunity to train in Sicily at the end of this year!

Saffron said, "Before I joined the GBMAA, I was a Brown Belt, preparing to be graded for my Black Belt. But because I was a new girl, I was started as a White Belt so that they could see what I could do. I think I showed them! My next fight is on 25 March at the Cimax Super League in Windsor, followed by the Southern Open Championship. I’m really excited about joining the International team!”
