Young Farmers Plant Oaks

Student members of the TPS Young Farmers and their leader, Dr Sarah Archibald, were out planting oak saplings this week to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The oaks were sent to the school from the Woodland Trust who have set themselves an amazing challenge to kick-start a year of tree planting for the Jubilee Woods Project – to plant one million trees in February.

TPS students have not been the only ones planting oak saplings - The Queen and The Princess Royal planted a Jubilee tree at the Sandringham Estate; Dame Judi Dench, "Blue Peter”, Kate Humble, BBC’s "Winterwatch”, Clive Anderson, and Sam and Eve Branson have all planted Jubilee Oaks. The chosen spot at TPS is alongside the school’s Astroturf by The Causeway, and the young oaks will provide a leafy border in future years.
