Music Workshop with ACM
Today the Music department hosted a Music Workshop with the Academy of Contemporary Music in the Studio.
A working band from ACM and a member of their Outreach team came to speak to GCSE Music students and some Year 8 musicians about careers and further study in music.
The first session gave students the chance to hear in detail how the band formed, their inspiration and how they got to where they are today, as well as finding out about courses and study at ACM. After a Q&A session, students broke into smaller groups and had discussions about their strengths, weaknesses and plans for the future with other people from their discipline and experts from ACM.
TPS student bands from Years 8, 9 and 10 then performed to the ACM team, who gave them constructive feedback.
The workshop ended with the ACM band Kissed and Crowned playing two of their original songs.
Head of Music, Samantha Wood, said, “The whole event was extremely inspirational for our students, as well as giving them confidence in their performances and allowing them begin to form ideas and plans about potential future careers and further study.”
