A Formula One Surprise For Dylan
Year 9 Dylan Brierley has been competing in the DRS100 class for Junior Drivers in the Daniel Ricciardo Karting Series this year. The DRS100 karts are 100cc 2-stroke outdoor karts with a top speed of 70mph.
Last weekend's race at Whilton Mill was particularly special as Renault Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo himself turned up to watch the racing!
Dylan moved up to the Junior class part way through 2018, having previous raced in the younger Cadet class where he came 15th in the Championship. This year the aim is to regularly have top ten race finishes, which he has achieved despite a significant increase in the number of competitors - the race at the weekend attracted 31 DRS100 competitors.
There are four race weekends remaining for this year and the next event is in the Lake District in late August.
