Chinese Students Visit
Last week, we were very pleased to welcome 26 Chinese students from Zhejiang, eastern coastal province of China. They travelled 9,378 km to experience life in a British school and spent the whole week attending lessons with their TPS buddies.
Despite the language barrier, they tried their very best to join in lessons and especially enjoyed the bespoke after-school activities which our TPS staff organised for them.
In Science, they learnt how to make beeswax wraps and used plastic bottles to create a strawberry vertical garden. This was a great opportunity for them to consider ways to reduce our plastic usage and promote environmentally friendly living.
In Art, they impressed us all by demonstrating great artistic flare when making clay tiles or trying their hands at Imprint Art. They will be going home with their art work and we hope that these will be great mementos of their time at TPS.
They also had a great time with their host families enjoying Hampshire's countryside and attractions. Host families organised special days out for them to Portchester Castle, Historic Dockyards, Gunwharf Quays, Southsea beach, Bosham - just to name a few!
We said goodbye to them at our Closing ceremony on Friday. Mr Marande and Dr Francombe presented them with a certificate and gift before they left to spend their last day sightseeing in London.
We have no doubt they enjoyed their stay in England and wished them a safe journey back to China. We thoroughly enjoyed having them here at TPS and we hope they will keep in touch with their newly made friends in the UK!
