Donation of Unused Devices to Support Education
Dear Parents and Carers
DONATION OF UNUSED DEVICES TO SUPPORT EDUCATION
Covid-19 is undoubtedly one of the greatest global challenges of our time and we must all now adapt and adopt profound changes to working, children and adults alike.
Can you help us provideeducation for our less advantaged students during this uncertain period?
At The Petersfield School, we are helping children get online during thistime by asking anyone with old iPads, Chromebooks and laptops at home to donate them to school.
Remote learning is vitally important to enable children to continue with their education, and, as you know, we are working with partner organisations to provide extensive and high quality online resources to support our students.
However, we have some children at TPS and across the Bohunt Education Trust family of schools who are unable to fully access online learning because they do not have access to computers at home.
The devices you donate will be provided to families with children within our school communities, so that they are able to access our best resources and get immediate support and feedback from our teachers.
We are specifically asking for:
- iPad 3s or higher
Laptops capable of running Windows 7 or higher
It is important that any donated devices are:
- Cleaned/disinfected, using ethyl or isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth (follow manufacturers’ recommendations)
and ower adapters for laptops and Chromebook (not essential for iPads), and completely
- Instructions for resetting an iPad can be found at or
- Instructions for resetting (‘power-washing’) a Chromebook can be found at
Instructions for resetting a Windows PC can be found at
It is estimated that 12% of households in the UK do not have computer. Estimates also show that people in the UK have at least one or more old computers around the house and that overall, there are around 30 million laptops or iPads lying unused in homes across the country. If you can help support our less advantaged families by providing a means to access schoolwork, your generosity and actions could be game-changing.
Please drop your old devices to:
We ask that you follow Government advice and observe self-isolation, lockdown and social distancing guidance; please only drop devices as part of an essential shopping visit.
We are very grateful to our friends at Tesco and Sainsburys for their support in this campaign.
