Tap Attack pick Brooke
Year 8 Brooke Smith has danced at the Classique School of Dance in Waterlooville since the age of 3. She enjoys ballet, modern and tap and is currently Grade 5 in all three. Brooke takes her dancing very seriously and attends classes after school 5 days a week. She competes and dances in various competitions and shows.
Before the Easter break, Brooke auditioned for a place with the Tap Attack Dance Company, which gives talented young individuals from different backgrounds the opportunity to train and work. It is both a performance company and an intensive training programme. Tap Attack has been invited to perform all over the globe and continues to push the boundaries of tap dance, whilst honouring and preserving the traditions of the art form.
Competition for a place was tough, but Brooke’s audition was successful and she started training last weekend at Wilkes Academy in Swindon.
Brooke said, “It was great fun. I love dancing and am thinking of it as a possible career in the future.”
