I am writing to introduce myself as the new Principal of The Petersfield School.  I consider it a privilege to have been asked to lead the school at this exciting time in its history and I’m very much looking forward to working closely with you.

I have previously taught in schools in Southampton and Portsmouth and I have been a school leader for eight years, most recently as the Deputy Headteacher of Priory School in Southsea.  I am a Hampshire native, growing up close to Southampton.  I am absolutely passionate about all students having the best possible life chances and achieving at the highest levels.  This commitment inspired me to become a teacher and also motivates me to lead TPS into the future.

TPS already has a significant number of strengths and I have been consistently impressed with the confident and articulate students that I have met so far.  I aim to build on our well-deserved reputation for providing an excellent education that encompasses both the formal curriculum and a huge wealth of extracurricular opportunities.  Having now spent increased time at the school and having seen our students perform in several different contexts, it is no surprise to me that we remain hugely oversubscribed.  Working with the highly dedicated staff and governors, I am confident that we can achieve even greater success.

I am keen to engage with you and understand the school from your point of view.  There will be a series of opportunities for us to meet and discuss aspects of the school’s work, more details of which will follow in due course.

As I’m sure you are aware, there are a number of significant challenges and changes ahead in the rapidly evolving world of education at the moment.  However, I firmly believe that TPS is in an excellent position to thrive, deliver exceptional outcomes to all of our students and remain “a school with a heart”.
