The breakfast of champions…

A huge thank you to everyone who completed our Autumn Parent Survey last month, we had over 350 responses.  The feedback we received has been immensely valuable as we continue to improve the school.  The general tone of the responses was overwhelmingly positive and I have passed on several of the great comments we received to the staff (just some of the examples below).  Over 92% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that they would recommend TPS to other parents and over 91% of parents agreed that their child is happy at TPS.  We also received numerous comments regarding how well new Y7 students have settled in at the school and this was very good to hear.

TPS is a fantastic school and both my children have been very happy here and made good academic progress. I am always to recommending that parents look at TPS as an option for their children when they are looking for a secondary school.”

“The opportunities, support and exposure to new activities has been exceptional. TPS has offered a rewarding, supportive and joyful learning environment for both of my (very different) children.”

“Love the school and my child has blossomed since joining. Thank you.”

However, we are determined to not be complacent and there was also useful feedback regarding the areas that we can improve.  The two main areas that the survey highlighted for attention were around homework and how we report progress to parents.  In response to both we have looked at how we currently do things and we are trialling new processes using your feedback.  Please do get in touch with us if you have any comments on either of the new systems.

We know that regular feedback is the best way to improve and this is why we spend so much time providing the students with opportunities to learn from feedback on their learning.  There will be frequent opportunities in the future for you to share with us what we are doing well and what we could do even better.  Feedback really is the breakfast of champions!

I want to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and invite you to our annual Christmas Carol Concert at St. Peter’s Church in Petersfield from 7pm on Wednesday 14 December.  Finally, a reminder that the last day of term is a charity Christmas jumper/non-school uniform day.   We look forward to seeing the students again on 4 January 2017.
