To provide a high-quality Science education that establishes the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Science allows us to solve problems and answer questions, vital to the future prosperity of the world, and all students should be taught the value of this. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, students should be encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about the world around them.
They should be encouraged to continue Science into higher education, becoming game changes of the next generation and play their part in contributing to a collective understanding of Science that truly makes a difference.
At TPS a high-quality computing education equips students to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and become game changers in their field.
Computing has deep links with Mathematics, Science and Design and Technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems. The core of Computing is Computer Science, in which students are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming.
Building on this knowledge and understanding, students are equipped and encouraged to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Computing also ensures that students become digitally literate – able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
The Business curriculum offered at TPS allows students to investigate a wide range of businesses and celebrate the diversity and innovation in the business world.
Students are encouraged to research local, national and international entrepreneurs and businesses so that they understand their role in the business world and can draw on a variety of different examples. This enables students in Business to appreciate the importance of culture in business and develop a mutual respect for all cultures and backgrounds that share the common goal of providing goods and services to communities across the globe.
The Business curriculum enriches students’ experiences by exposing them to greater cultural opportunities and providing a rich and diverse curriculum that focuses on cultural capital exposure.
The Business curriculum aims to enable learners to develop the skills, qualities and knowledge needed to become key players in the business world and be business game changers and shape their futures. This is offered through a varied specification that allows for ample opportunities to embed knowledge through projects, discussion, real life examples and extra-curricular opportunities, such as the National Enterprise Challenge and Micro Tyco.
The opportunities provided in Business allows students to approach their learning in a more enjoyable and enriching manner and will broaden their skill set. Growth mindset traits, such as collaboration, creativity, curiosity and motivation are integral to the projects undertaken in Business and allow students to explore their learning and embed their knowledge further.
