Headteacher’s Welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to The Petersfield School, a happy and vibrant school located in the heart of the South Downs. We have a long established reputation for traditional values, high academic achievement and providing an outstanding student experience. Underpinning our belief that every child should be happy and successful are our school values of enjoy, respect and achieve.

We support our students to become confident and resilient young people, ready to make a significant positive difference in a changing world.  Fantastic academic results open the door to great opportunities and the distinctive features of a TPS student are their ambition, commitment and self-confidence. We foster these attributes through an extensive programme of co-curricular and leadership opportunities for all students.

We are well known for being a ‘school with a heart’ and this is shown by our excellent relationships between the staff and the students and between the students themselves. Visitors to our school are always impressed by our students and their outstanding attitude towards their learning.

Ofsted commented on several outstanding features of our school, noting that “students behave impeccably” and that they “enjoy school and want to learn”.

By ensuring that learning at TPS, both inside and outside of the classroom, is an adventure, we provide our students with the skills and confidence to thrive once they leave us.

We have a strong track record in supporting students to achieve their first choice university and pride ourselves on the success of our alumni.

In September 2016 we joined the highly successful Bohunt Education Trust.  We are now part of a community of education professionals whose approach is one which combines the highest expectations with a sensitivity to learners’ individual needs, concentrates on maintaining the very best standards of learning and teaching and takes every opportunity to recognise and reward achievement.

Do come and visit us to find out more about what makes TPS so special.  We look forward to meeting you.

TPS always felt like a safe place to express myself and my hobbies without a fear of being told I wasn’t cool for playing with toys. Many teachers encouraged me to utilise LEGO in my work in Art, DT, even Maths and Geography!

I started dancing at 3 and more seriously from the age of 12. I wanted to attend TPS because of their performing arts specialism, and they have given me so many opportunities to perform in dance and drama productions such as “Fame” at the New Theatre Royal Portsmouth and Rock Challenge at the Guildhall.
