At TPS, we are proud of our innovative Ignite enrichment programme, designed to challenge our most able students while remaining open to any student with a passion for learning and a desire to push themselves further.
For KS3 students (Years 7–8), Ignite offers a series of exciting cross-curricular workshops held throughout the year. Delivered by our teaching staff, these sessions are designed to ignite intellectual curiosity, encourage creative thinking, and broaden horizons through unique subject collaborations. Past workshops have included English and Music, Maths and PE, and Science and Technology, demonstrating the endless possibilities for exploration and discovery.
For KS4 students (Years 9–11), Ignite provides a range of educational visits, guest speakers, and enrichment opportunities. Students gain insight from inspiring professionals and academics, including Al Peasland (Red Bull F1 race engineer), Lord Robert Winston (Professor of Science & Society), Ben Smith (Whitman Laboratory), and university speakers.
The Ignite programme also includes links with St Hilda’s College, Oxford and our joint Sixth Form, and opportunities to gain additional qualifications in subjects such as Mandarin, Performing Arts, Further Maths, and Statistics.
While academic excellence remains a key priority, Ignite is about more than achievement. It is designed to nurture curiosity, develop character, and equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become the innovators and game changers of the future.
