The main commitment for the Mandarin Excellence Programme is three hours of Mandarin lessons within the school day, annual external assessments of 4 language skills in the summer term, as well as timely completion of weekly homework and termly cultural projects up to a high standard. In addition, there are lots of enrichment opportunities throughout the year, such as, Chinese musical projects, exchange programmes with China, Chinese New Year celebrations, UK Chinese Bridge Speaking Competitions, local and international trips, and many more.
Note: The original requirement of one additional after-school lesson has been removed. Instead, student can choose voluntarily to attend an after-school Mandarin club if they would like to.

If you would like some practice, please have a look at completing Assignment 1 before starting Assignment 2. Assignment 1 is mainly about useful apps and online platforms that students can use to facilitate their learning of Chinese words and phrases. Assignment 2 contains lots of practice questions and exercises based on Assignment 1.
In addition, here is a link to a YouTube channel which contains lots of useful online lessons of topics from the school curriculum. In Y7, students will learn about basic greetings, self-introduction, family and pets, hobbies and sports, as well as school subjects and food.
