Last Thursday we were visited by a Scout Helicopter which landed on the school field, courtesy of the Historic Army Aircraft Flight.
180 students across the school had the opportunity to get up close to the aircraft – including sitting in the cockpit and talking to the Pilots and Army crew about careers in aviation. The pilot – Major Rich Pillans – is also a former TPS student!
As a carousel of activities, we also had visitors from the Army Flying Museum showing students some interesting history of military aviation in the main hall, and Graduate/Apprentice engineers from Boeing shared the ins and outs of starting a career in engineering and aviation.
It was a fabulous afternoon, and students gained invaluable insight into the possibilities of these exciting and important careers.
