In celebration of World Book Day on Thursday 6 March, this year TPS decided offer our students a range of fun reading experiences throughout the week, to support our aim to encourage lifelong reading for pleasure. Literacy Lessons in our Outdoor Classroom lead the daily activities which included:
– Golden Ticket TPS Reads, for those who are lucky enough to find one in their recommended Tutor time reading books in exchange for book tokens
– Book-themed menu, such as Harry Potter Hotpot, inspired by famous books and characters
– Storytelling Workshops for Year 8 students and plenty more!
And when we got to World Book Day, staff fully embraced the challenge coming dressed as book-themed characters! All our students were also encouraged to get involved by either dressing up themselves or attending in non-uniform with a donation to our nominated charity.
Book reading took place everywhere, from Read-a-Book in a Day in the library, to gathering in the Bandstand, accompanied by a bit of healthy book quizzing.
