Petersfield’s Taekwondo Club has competed in two National level competitions over the past two weekends and TPS students have had some amazing results!
The first was the TAGB English Championships in Coventry, a big event with over 1500 competitors. Matilda C won Silver Individual Sparring & Gold Team Sparring; Lucy H won Gold Team Sparring & Bronze Team Patterns, and Charlotte L won Gold Individual Sparring.
This weekend, the students took part in the UKTA English Championships in Guildford, a smaller event with just over 300 competitors. Ethan L-M won Silver Individual Sparring; Matilda C won Gold Individual Sparring; Aimie H won Silver Individual Sparring; Charlotte L won Bronze Individual Sparring, and Megan W won Bronze Individual Sparring.
The stand-out competitor over the two weekends for the school was Matilda, who stepped up to a higher age and height category than she has before. She will be going to compete in the World Championships in July, and will then do her Black Belt 1st Dan Grading in the Autumn.
Instructor Colin Sayer said, “Tilly is an amazing young athlete with loads of potential to achieve great things in whatever she does in the future. We at Southdowns Taekwondo are very proud of her and all our students.”
