Former students finally received their Silver DofE certificates this week, following the restrictions over the past 18 months.
The groups had completed their practice and their 3-day assessed expeditions in the New Forest, where they had beautiful weather on both expeditions; journeying for more than 7 hours each day, working on their group aims of Quotes of the New Forest, Nature is Beautiful and the A-Z of the New Forest, camping at 4 different campsites and being self-sufficient throughout.
Some of the challenges they undertook included:
Volunteering – helping at the German Spelling Bee, Library, Guides, Butser Ancient Farm, swimming lessons, Youth Group and DM’ing at Dungeons and Dragons club.
Physical – running, climbing, walking in the South Downs, swimming, body boarding, tennis and playing cricket.
Skill – photography, playing piano, drama after-school, playing cornet, piano, drama club, fine art painting and learning about cricket scoring.
Whilst it was a shame that we couldn’t present their certificates sooner due to lockdown, it was lovely to meet and catch up with them all now that they have completed their two years at College before starting at various Universities around the country.
We are also pleased to hear that a few went on to do their Gold DofE at College, too. Well done and good luck!
