Year 11 Jake Cleasby had been preparing for the Great South 10 Mile Run in support of his PE GCSE.
He completed the run in 1:13:59 which put him 25th in the Under 20 age group and 905th out of 15,500 overall. For the first time over the distance, this is an impressive achievement.
Jake said, “I’m really pleased because I’d trained a lot – running every week with my mum who supported me on this. I’d like to join a running club again and run in a group – I need to get back into it! I’ve already signed up for next year’s Great South Run, so I’ll have a whole year to train this time. I want to build up to try and do longer runs, and if those go well I’d like to up the distance to a marathon.”
