Students from Years 10 and 11 attended a ‘Meet the Army’ Day at Thorney Island Barracks. The event was organised by 11 Security Force Assistant Brigade and hosted by Royal Artillery Regiments based at Thorney Island.
The students got to find out what life is like for soldiers serving in different parts of today’s modern Army. The students used state of the art simulation to experience the role of air defences soldiers, climbed inside helicopters and armoured vehicles, held infantry weapon systems, and tried the food that soldiers eat on operations and in barracks.
Careers Coordinator Karen Heath said, “It was a fantastic day and probably most importantly the students had the chance to talk to soldiers about their careers and how varied and interesting their jobs are.”
