The first TPS Open Mic night of 2022 was a tremendous night- another fantastic range of performances from our talented students and a sell-out audience who were brilliant in showing their support.
Highlights included band performances from our Year 7 band Double Muppets who performed “Somewhere Only we Know”, our Year 8 band performing “Time of Your Life” with an original twist, Solomon B, Year 11, who performed a highly-energised original song “Last Time”, and Year 10 students Freya F, Ryan L and Oliver P performing “Californication” to perfection.

There were some outstanding solo performances from students in Years 7, 10 and 11, and it was wonderful to see our older students supporting and inspiring our upcoming performers. For Year 11 this may be their last Open Mic at TPS as they approach their final term of completing their GCSEs, and it was so special to see so many of them performing last night and sharing the very special bond that music brings.
Year 11 solo performers included: Fleur A, Martha R, Georgia H, Georgia H, Emma S, and the evening ended with performances from our two Year 11 bands Electric Nerdz with “Moonage Daydream” – superbly arranged by Ossian W-S including trumpet – Sam B and Sax – Ollie B, and the Sparky Geeks who performed the encore of the night “Alright” by Supergrass. Our technical team did a superb job on the sound and lighting.
Head of Music, Samantha Wood, said, “A huge well done to all performers, and thank you to our supportive audience- it so wonderful to welcome them all back for live events in the Studio again!”
