Former student Jamie Cooper is now in his second year at the Central School of Ballet in London and is doing really well. Just before Christmas he represented the school at the Youth America Grand Prix in Italy, where he got through to the final and received some scores of 90+ for both his contemporary and ballet variations.
The Central School wrote afterwards: “Jamie Cooper was recognised throughout the competition for his excellent performance of ballet and contemporary variations. Jamie was accepted to the scholarship class where he was in the final six of the Senior Men’s category and the final 12 of the Junior and Senior Men combined. Next summer, Jamie will be attending the Youth America Grand Prix Ballet Festival, after being awarded a scholarship at the competition in Italy.”
Now Jamie has heard that he has been given a scholarship by Central to attend a summer school in Prague, co-run by one of his favourite dancers, Vadim Muntagirov, who is a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet.
Jamie said, “I am very thankful and grateful to TPS for having allowed me to train for my chosen career so extensively whilst continuing my academic studies.”
