The Port brothers share a passion for sport and their achievements this year are truly impressive!
After trials with London Irish at the end of last season, Year 10 George has been invited back again next season for further trials, and he also played in the Petersfield RFC team who were runners up in the Hampshire Rugby 7s.
George reached County and Regional Finals again this season for swimming – he achieved podium positions in a number of events, including Golds, and the football team where he is vice-captain won the NEHYL Plate Final!
In between all of this, George enjoys being a member of the CCF, and has recently been made a Sports Captain.
Younger brother James in Year 9 has also been invited back again next season for further trials with London Irish, and his Petersfield RFC team also won the Plate Final.
James reached County and Regional Finals again this season for swimming, and he achieved podium positions in a number of events, including mostly Golds. Recently, James has made the National Finals, after getting as high as 8th in England for his Fly stroke, and will be competing in Sheffield in August against the top 20 swimmers in his age group in England!
James’s football team came runners up in the NEHYL Premier League, after James joined them mid-season to assist them to climb the league. They also made the finals in both tournaments they entered, winning the tournament in which James was in goal and didn’t concede a single goal throughout the tournament.
For both to compete at such a high level in three very different sports takes a huge amount of dedication, hard work, and ambition to succeed and to achieve at the highest levels. Both boys average at least one or two sports sessions each weekday outside of school, and two or three sessions a day at weekends.
