Students gain insight into a career in Medicine

At Friday’s AMA Ignite session, Dr Robert Lown, a consultant in Haematology at University Hospital Southampton, provided students with information on studying Medicine at University, the training route and timelines after this.  

He then chatted about his role, and within his specialist field of Lymphomas (a type of blood cancer), Rob discussed the role of white blood cells in cancer treatment, as well as novel new treatments. This fitted in well with Year 10’s current Biology topic of Infection and Disease.
