Al Peasland, former Red Bull and Williams race engineer, came in on Friday to give a fascinating talk about his career in Formula 1.
Over 100 students from all year groups stayed behind after school to hear Al speak about the evolution of racing from its humble beginnings at Brooklands race track to his successful title winning years at Red Bull in 2012, all the way to present day advances in AI autonomous racing teams “roborace”.
Al answered questions from students as he passed around F1 race car locking nuts and gave out a 3D printed Williams F1 car model to a lucky student. Al advised students interested in engineering and F1 to chase their passion not their pension, and that there is no one correct way to enter a career. This is because the jobs students will be doing in the future potentially haven’t been created yet!
