Last Friday, Bohunt Education Trust (BET) hosted its second BET Staff Awards here at The Studio.
The BET Awards were created in 2020 to celebrate staff across the Trust who have made phenomenal contributions to their schools.
Over 250 nominations were made for staff across the high-performing MAT’s family of eight schools and finalists from Liphook, Portsmouth, Worthing, Petersfield, Steyning, Wokingham, Basingstoke and Horsham were invited to a glittering evening of celebrations.
Hosted by Georgette Ayling (Headteacher at Bohunt Horsham) and Stewart Vaughan (Headteacher at Priory School), guests were treated to a two-course dinner with a chance to catch up and honour colleagues across the Trust.
17 awards were presented on the night, from Subject Teachers of the Year and Trust First to the coveted Chair’s Award and the’ Green Chicken’ School of Year Award, which celebrates collaborative efforts by schools across the Trust. A new award was created this year – COVID Hero – which was awarded to a member of staff or team who went above and beyond during the previous two years to inspire others in the face of adversity, and bring something positive out of the global pandemic.
Several TPS staff had been shortlisted from the many nominations, and our Performing Arts team (Lucy Reah, Stephanie Plunkett, Samantha Wood, Amanda Jones, Natalie Voller) won a Teaching Team of the Year Award, with Andy Phillips, our school nurse, deservedly scooping the Covid Hero Award!
