Following the recent Outstanding Ofsted report (again!), students at The Petersfield School, part of the high achieving Bohunt Education Trust (BET), are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results, enabling them to embark on the next stage of their education journey.
The 2024 cohort have achieved excellent results, whilst demonstrating great resilience, commitment and determination during their time at the school. Students have once again made outstanding progress and well over three quarters achieved a grade 4 (grade C) or above in both English and Maths, and a third of all the grades awarded at TPS were at the grade 7 to 9 (A*/A) level.
The accomplishments of students were celebrated across the board. Particular highlights include:
● Millie G, from Petersfield, achieved a staggering ELEVEN straight grade 9 GCSEs (A**)! This is something that only a very small number of students across the whole country achieve each year. Millie said, “I am so pleased with my results! I have had such an amazing time at TPS. I am now going to study Maths, Further Maths, English Literature and History”
● Conor P, from Petersfield, achieved nine grade 9s (A**) and two grade 8 (A*) GCSEs. Connor said, “I am going to Bohunt Sixth Form to study Maths, Biology and Chemistry, and I am interested in Marine Biology at Uni. I have so many fond memories of TPS – the school trips to Spain and Berlin, doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and fun with mates!”
● Eva M, our outgoing Head Girl, is going to Bohunt to study Biochemistry, Maths and an EPQ, and wants to go on to study Medicine.
● Erin H achieved an amazing ten grade 9 GCSEs (A**). Erin managed to achieve full marks in her English Literature exam as well! Erin will study Maths, Chemistry and Biology.
● Thomas M, from Clanfield, achieved six grade 9s, one grade 8 and four grade 7 (A) GCSEs. Tom said, “I really appreciated the help and support of my teachers. I am going to study A-level Maths, Further Maths, English and Physics, and I want to go on to Uni to study Astro Physics.”
● Our Ukrainian students (Alice and Cassie U; Kristina F; Sofiia V) achieved an impressive number of high grades – truly remarkable given that they have only been in the UK since 2022 when they fled the war in Ukraine. Sofiia said, “We arrived in the summer of 2022 and it was so different – the language, the exam system. But we were welcomed by the students and staff and we quickly made friends. I am going to study Art, Graphic Design and Business for A-Level.”
● Olivia S, one of our outgoing Deputy Head Girls, only joined TPS in Year 10 from Tanzania. Olivia achieved great results and is going on to study Economics, Maths, and English Literature. She plans to study an International BSc in Economics at St Andrews University and hopes to work at the World Bank.
Several subjects secured truly remarkable results with over 85% of the students achieving grades 4 to 9 (A* to C) included English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Music, Sociology, Drama, Mandarin and Spanish.
This year’s results reflect The Petersfield School’s commitment to BET’s ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’, which underpins the culture and outcomes of all its schools. This includes delivering unparalleled educational opportunities and highly effective teaching to nurture and develop students into becoming “game-changers”.
Together, BET and The Petersfield School aim to support young people to flourish throughout their school journeys and then on into later life, with educational, enrichment and pastoral support both inside and outside the classroom.
