Farewell to our Chinese visitors

For the past 10 days, 22 Chinese students have been attending TPS for their UK Exchange Programme.

In addition to normal school lessons, various after-school workshops were organised for our visitors by  enthusiastic colleagues from various departments.  The students greatly enjoyed both the lessons and clubs, as well as the intercultural communications with TPS students.

During the week, the Chinese students and their TPS buddies were interviewed by our local Shine Radio. Everyone chatted in detail about the their experiences during the visit as well as what they had learned from each other. They also discussed the benefit of these intercultural exchanges, which help counter misinformation and stereotypes seen on social media nowadays.

Taylor Zhang, Head of Mandarin, said, “I am thrilled to have been able to plan for and coordinate such a fantastic programme at TPS. This opportunity has not only reflected our school ethos of Enjoy, Respect, and Achieve, but also has struck a chord with me and a vital belief that I hold dearly as an educator: through dialogue and communication, we learn from each other’s differences so that commonalities can be created to make this world a better place.

I am really glad to see that friendships have been built throughout this programme between our TPS students and Chinese students.  Heartfelt wishes that our TPS students wrote in their farewell postcards to our Chinese visitors made the closing ceremony rather special and memorable.”
