Last week, our Greenpower Club were delighted to welcome back former Deputy Head Boy, Tom Reid, who left in 2020.
Tom is in his second year studying Racing Engine Systems at Oxford Brookes University, and he brought a fellow student to talk to the Greenpower team.
After leaving TPS, Tom studied Maths, Further Maths and Physics at Havant & South Downs College before heading to Oxford Brookes. He has completed a placement at Tom Barclay Racing in West Wickham, working on historic Jaguars.
Tom credits several TPS teachers for his success to date – especially STEM teachers such as Mr Newnham, and Mr Styllis who got him through Chemistry.
Tom said, “My love for engine building all started when I joined Greenpower in Year 8, attending Race Days at Goodwood and Silverstone! I am part of a student-run race team in Oxford, and raced at the Goodwood Revival in a 1950s Riley 1.5. I got stuck behind Rowan Atkinson on the track! I would love to build engines for him.”
