Earlier this year we shared Year 8 student Jacob Cook’s story about getting nominated to join England Hockey’s Development Centre as a hockey goalkeeper this summer. He attended the training and was then super excited to hear that he was invited to two assessments to see if he would be selected to play for Hampshire. After a tense wait he was told that he had made the team and attended his first training session this week. He will be training twice a month at the Development Centre.
Jacob said, “I can’t believe that I’ve been selected, it is a dream come true, and I’m so excited to be representing both my county and my home club Petersfield. Hockey is a brilliant sport, and Petersfield have a super friendly club, so I’d highly recommend trying it even if you’ve never picked up a stick before!”
