On Tuesday 18 June, our Year 10 Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) students went on a trip to the University of Southampton. As part of the day, they attended a very inspiring and enlightening lecture about the purpose and benefits of learning foreign languages from a global perspective.
They found out more about University life and took part in interactive workshops, which led them to explore the language provision and pathways at higher education.
Finally, they presented their tourism campaign to a group of peers from other MEP schools, which is the end product of their Intensive Studies Programme. Our students delivered a presentation about the City of Portsmouth city and were awarded second place. Creative members of the group include Christabelle C, Alexa H, Mia H, Sophia B and Aimie H.
Head of Mandarin, Taylor Zhang, said, “They were brilliant in combining their performing arts and linguistic skills in their presentation, and the audience was really impressed by the quality of their production!”
