Last week, our Year 10 Mandarin students went on a trip to the University of Southampton. As part of the day they attended a very inspiring and enlightening lecture about the purpose and benefits of learning foreign languages from a global perspective.
They found out more about University life and took part in interactive workshops, which led them to explore the language provision and pathways at higher education.
Finally, they presented their tourism campaign to a group of peers from other MEP schools. All groups did incredibly well and delivered their presentation with conviction and enthusiasm . Well done to Erin H, Eva T, and Abigail C who stood out as our winning team with their presentation on the Glastonbury Festival.
Mr Zhang, our new Head of Mandarin, said: “It was a very productive and meaningful day for our Year 10 MEP students. They were exposed to the various studies and career opportunities open to them as a result of learning Mandarin and being part of the Mandarin Excellence Programme. It was also great to see our students so keen to collaborate with their peers and learn from each others’ fantastic accomplishments.”
