On Monday 25 March, Mrs Goodall and 13 TPS students embarked on a 5-day sailing experience aboard ‘Prolific’. Our trip was the first Ocean Youth Trust voyage of the 2024 season and although we faced a challenging weather forecast, we had a great time! We started the trip with basic boat familiarisation then sailed to Cowes on the Isle of Wight. The following day involved an impressive 15-hour sail, with each Watch taking it in turns to face the torrential weather up on deck.
We had to return to Ocean Village for the rest of the voyage, due to strong winds and horizontal rain! However, this was a great opportunity to take part in sailing workshops and have fun onboard. We enjoyed some activity-packed days – working through the RYA Start Yachting syllabus, trying some of the experiments in our environmental toolkit, playing lots of games, cooking delicious meals and celebrating Watchleader Sara’s birthday with a party! It was a brilliant experience and students grew in confidence as the week progressed. We are so proud of their resilience and willingness to work hard (even when cold and wet!). Well done to everyone who attended!
