Over recent weeks, Year 10 students have prepared personal statements in readiness for their Mock Interview Day.
Yesterday, over 30 people from the local community and beyond came into school to interview our students about their personal statements and their career choices.
The students were given the option to dress up in their own smart clothes, and many took up that opportunity.
Careers Coordinator Karen Heath said, “We are so grateful to everyone who gave up their time today to help our students. The interviewers were blown away by how mature and articulate our students were. Some of the students were interviewed for up to 15 minutes, which didn’t appear to faze them, and that is a big ask! One student came out skipping from her interview, saying that she really loved the experience!”
Interviewer feedback included comments such as:
“I really enjoyed meeting the candidates yesterday. Without exception they were a delight to meet”
“Young people showing a great deal of maturity and a credit to themselves and TPS.”
” It is so refreshing to encounter young people with enthusiasm for life and also wanting to maintain a level of personal fitness. So much is published about couch potatoes playing video games and watching TV leading to obesity and health problems but yesterday’s candidates exhibited none of that.”
