SUMMER OPEN MIC NIGHT

Our Summer Open Mic Night took place in the Studio last Thursday. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions still in place, we were unable to open up to a public audience, but students took part enthusiastically and it was a very special evening.

Student performers were the audience for each other, and it was wonderful for them to be part of what felt like our first live music event for a long time. Students from all years performed, including our first Year 7 band who have been rehearsing this year in Rock Club, and two surprise performances from a Year 11 student who has now left TPS – Leo – who sang a powerful rendition of ‘Sound of Silence’, and ex-student Keira from the class of 2018.  Keira started the show with ‘Life is a Bowl of Cherries’ and has just auditioned and earnt a place at Performing Arts School for September. Her performance was extremely inspirational for our TPS students.

Other stand-out performances included: Georgia H who sang ‘Break my Heart Again’; our Jazz quartet who performed ‘Watermelon Medley’; the Year 10 band who have been rehearsing regularly at school and performed ‘Country House’, and the final performance of the night ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ by Oliver P, Year 9, and Fleur A, Finley W and Ossian W-S, Year 10.  Students in the audience were holding up their phone lights, arms in the air, and cheering at the end of what was a fantastic evening of music.
